West Central Equipment, the John Deere agriculture and turf equipment dealer in Somerset, is seeking an ag equipment salesperson who has proven customer sales experience.  The purpose of the ag equipment salesperson is to help new and existing customers select and buy ag tractors, harvesters, windrowers, planters, grain drills, combines, skid loaders, tillage tools, balers, hay tools and other ag equipment to meet and exceed customer expectations for performance and value.  The ag equipment salesperson is responsible for maintaining market share goals and sales volume for the assigned territory and market segment.


  • Represent the company for the sale of John Deere, GEHL, Great Plains, Kuhn and other brands of new and used agriculture equipment to commercial farmers and non-commercial farm customers in these counties:  Southern Bedford (PA), Allegany and Garrett (MD), Mineral (WV)
  • 60% of time, call on prospective and existing customers at the farm
  • 40% of time, engage in-store prospective and existing customers regarding their equipment needs - work half days on Saturday every other week
  • Follow the company sales process
  • Use effective communications methods to follow-up with prospects and provide a superior, professional sales experience
  • Maintain product knowledge of features and benefits of ag equipment including precision farming technology and current equipment options
  • Maintain current knowledge of financing offers, handle customer credit applications and ensure that customers clearly understand financing options


  • Proven customer sales experience
  • Excellent customer relationship skills and oral communications
  • High level of initiative, motivation and achievement orientation
  • Mathematics ability commensurate with salesperson responsibilities
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, farming or heavy equipment
