Joel Wineland - General Manager
In 1945 Joel’s father, Galen, started Wineland Equipment. As Joel grew up, he was around the business all his life, working there over the summers while attending high school and college. After college he worked construction for 1 year, then his father asked Joel to join him at the dealership as a salesman full time. In 1976 Galen passed away, and Joel took over managing the business. In 1989, he welcomed two partners. Then in the fall of 2007, Joel and another partner merged with Lone Maple Sales & Service to form West Central Equipment, LLC.
In 2010, Scheffel Equipment of Somerset and Johnstown, another family owned business, joined West Central Equipment to form the current group of four West Central locations.
In October 1989 Jonas Scheffel along with his sons, Ken, Den and Nelson, formed Scheffel Equipment. Scheffel Equipment acquired the John Deere dealership from O.D. Barnett and Sons who served the area with John Deere parts, service and sales for over 50 years. This dealership was located in Boswell, PA. In 1992 Scheffel Equipment relocated the dealership to Somerset. A second store was opened in Johnstown, PA in 1999. Jonas and his family, along with their seasoned employees, continue to serve the Somerset and Johnstown areas as part of West Central Equipment.
